Chinese Red
Forces Said
Near Kweilin
HONG KONG. Friday. Oct.-21
MV Chinese communist troops to
day were believed nearing KweU
In, headquarters for Nationalist
Gen. Pai Chung-Hsi's last-ditch
defense In southwest China.
The hint came from an an
nouncement that the China Na
tional Aviation. Corp. was pulling
out of Kweilin, capital of Kwang
i province . 250 , miles northwest
of Canton. I
A second red drive against Pal's
200,000 man army rolled up 160
miles southeast of Kweilin. The
CNAC also pulled out personnel
from Wuchow (Tsangwu), on the
Kwangsi border there.
Press dispatches from the na
tionalist bland fortress of Formosa
said the nationalists intended to
back up their sea blockade of
Canton with air attacks.
The dispatches said that the
first train crossing from this Brit
ish crown colony into Chinese
territory for Canton would be
bombed.
They quoted the nationalist
Chum Hwa Jih Pao
as saying any -communist hopes
of using tne overiana route to
obtain supplies from Hong Kong
would be dashed by bombing.
