He was 60. Born DeCi 2, 1888, in Gervaia, Jones was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Jones, who came to the Wil lamette valley in August of 1853. Jones lived his entire life in this area and had farmed near Brooks in recent years. He was married June 14j 1916, to the former Blan che E. Evans, who survives him. He was a member of Gervais lodge 54, AF Sc AM, which win conduct ritualistic services for him Friday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the W. T. Rigdon chapel with concluding services in the Pioneer cemetery at Brooks. Surviving, ' besides n the widow, are four sons, S. Paul Jones, jr.. Mission j Bottom; . Daryl G.- Jones, Brooks;, and Evans W. and Stanley W. Jones, both of Salem; three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Hawley, Bertha Jean Jones and Sally Jo 'Jones, all of Brooks; five sisters. Commer cial St., Salem's fourth, has open ed its doors for business this week, with a formal opening plan ned for next week. Of modern design, the large two-story building is located on the edge of the business district at South Commercial and Oak streets.
