. Today the red warons roll.
The four lone railroad trains of
the Ringlinf Bros, and Barnum St
Bailey circus were due between
1 and 3 ajn. this morning in the
Southern Pacific yards, coming
from Portland.
The Flying Squadron first in,
with the cookhouse and menagerie
was to be spotted on the railway
crossing for swift unloading by
daybreak.
Red wagons and cages were then ;
to proceed by motor to the show
lot at the fair grounds parking lot,
where performances will be given
at 2:15 and 8:15 pjn., with doors
open at 1 and 7 p.m., today.
The other three trains, with the
elephants, the world's largest big
top, the horse tents, the dressing
rooms, the shop tents, tons of rig
gings and paraphernalia, hundreds
of horses and the bulk of the cir
cus cast of 1450 people, follow at
Intervals of half an hour.
Birthdays Theme
The big hurrah of the Big Show
this year is "Birthdays," the fea
tured spectacle, celebrating in fan
tasy and fun, the natal days of
nursery rhyme and fairy tales'
characters, -it requires a cast of
2.000 people and animals. Next is
"The Girl in the Moon," an aerial
extravaganza with 60 smiling girls
soaring in 60 smiling moons; then
comes "San Francisco, dashing
equestrian salute to the Golden
Gate, the Gold Rush and the '49-
ers in this, their centennial year.
Last is "The Glorious Fourth," the
patriotic, aerial pageant, with ele
phants, clowns and girls in a red.
