"Old Timers'9 Picnic Set At Qoverdale Sunday, August .21, the 16th annual "Old Timer" picnic will held at the Cloverdale school ' - house. The Old-Timer's picnic was organized at the suggestion of Ray and Loretta Farris, in 1934,? and, has continued yearly 1 since that time. The purpose is to provide an occasion for old timers to meet and renew friend ships and memories, and to extend a welcome to new-comers in the neighborhood. '.Tuesday night the fourth of series of 4-11 Beginner's Canning meetings, was held at the home of Carol Newkirk. Discussion found that every member was planning to exhibit at the County Fall Show. Evelyn Hennies, and Irene Thomas are to be on demonstration team from the club, The topic of the demonstration will be "Packing Fruit in Jars." The nexf meeting will be held on . ANGEL Joe Wachter was worn in as councilman at a meet ing of the city council Monday, and will succeed Sylvester Sch mltt, who left Mt Angel to take up residence in Redmond. Wachter was Immediately ap pointed chairmarv of finance com mittee and of public safety. Marshal Ed- Korte reported 12 arrests for the past month and stated everything was quite peace ful during the flax festival. A representative of the company that is to consider installation of the new sewage system was pre sent and plans and costs were discussed. The street committee repotted all streets in need of it had been repaired and parking strips and cross sections had been hard sur faced, the working being com pleted before the' festival.
