Buys Properly
At Halls Ferry
'
HALLS FERRY Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Hicks and son Michael are
new members of the Halls Ferry
district having recently acquired
the former Lee Seydel property.
They are former residents of South
Dakota.
Jane Nichols, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Orville Nichols, is home
on vacation from Oregon State
college. .She will leave in July to
be a camp counselor for the Camp
Fire Girls at their camp near
Mount Hood. !
Mrs. Don Wilson was a recent
visitor at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. W. Wilson fromBSrstow,
Calif. She plansto rjrurn to Bar
tow the first of July at which time
she and her husband will leave
for Boulder City, Nevada to open
a new bakery.
Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Graham and
family and Miss Fern Jones spent

Mrs. Herbert Barker ancidaugh

returned from Sacramento, Cali

the birth of their daughter June
17th, The little girl has an older
brother, Richard Keeney, Jr.

William Keeney, residents of Halls
Ferry.
Mrs. William Keeney, jr., and
ahildren returned home Sunday
fter an extended , trip to Des
Moines. Iowa, and Shoshone, Iowa,
Visiting relatives and friends,
Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Auchecht
and family were recent guests of
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Buisman. They
are residents of Cleveland, Ohio.
Mrs. Aubrecht and Mrs. Buisman
are' sisters.

returned from a week's visit with
Mrs. Herschel Goen. daughter of
Mrs. Barker, in Portland.
Cherry Picking
Problem Eases "
The cherry picking problem in
the Willamette valley has been
nearly solved, tha Salam branch
Of the state employment office said
Wednesday.
Heavy registration by local res
idents and an Influx of workers,
specially from Klamath Falls and
from eastern Oregon and Idaho,

Radio Programs
To Deal With VD
A series of weekly programs
dealing with the control of ven
ereal disease will begin Sunday,
June 2, over station KSLM from
:30 to 6:43 p.m. as a public serv
ice, if was announced Wednesday.
The transcribed programs are
co-sponsored by the Marion county
health department and the Marion
County Tuberculosis and Health
association. The transcriptions are
voiced by such notables as Ray
mond Massey, George Hicks, Drew

Masury, 'Ohio, waived preliminary
Investigation and was bound over
to the grand jury in Marion coun
ty district court Wednesday on a
eharge of stealing an automobile
belonging to Scott A. Wheatle,

Hummell was arrested by state
police early Wednesday morning
on- a charge of larceny. He is being
hrld in Marion county jail in lieu
of $2000 bail.
