Not Sign Pact
With Argentine
BUENOS AIRES. June 18-rV
The new five-year British-Argen
tine trade pact, under fire from
Washington, probably will not be
signed Tuesday as originally plan
ned.
The U-S. claims the pact violates
the saint of free competitive in
ternational trade. American of
ficial fear it might keep UjS. oil
and farm machinery off i the
Argentine marketJ
Washington dispatches describ
ed the;. i.cue as the most serious
yet in American relations with
any Eurdpean country under the
Marshall plan, but top U. S. of
ficials said there was no question
of cutting off IIarshall plan aid to
Britain.
(In London, i n formed British
sources said today the full text of
the Anglo-Argentin trade agree
ment will be shown to United
State officials before it is signed.)
Under the agreement, Britain
would t.upply the bulk of Argen
tina's imports. They would range
from much-needed oil and coal td
automobiles and whiskey.
In return Britain would get from
Argentina an estimated 300,000
tons of meat plus cereals and other
items.

Wheat pComes
To Life9 Again
CHICAGO. June 1 o-tD-Wheat
came to life in the closing hour on
the board of trade today, ending
on gains extending to more than
a cent -in the July contract. Be
fore the late buying movement,
wheat :and other cereals had drift
ed along in a listless and ragged
market
Some last-minute profit-taking
iared gains, but wheat ended
higher, corn was lg lower to
higher, oats were z-T'u high
er, rye was higher, soybeans
were 'z-3! higher and lard was

dred pounds higher.
The market was helped by news
that cash prices had advanced in
the southwest. Cash wheat at
Kansas City sold 2'2 to 6'4 cents
higher. Premiums over the July
future; were raised 21 2 to 4,j
cents. A good demand was present
for the grain. At Omaha, wheat
rose 2 to 3 cents.

Claude H. Post, a member of the

was .fijed with the Marion county

The amount of the lien is the
sum due for labor and materials
on a $109,485 contract, according
to the.claimants. It represents al
