annual majorette contest here
Wednesday night winning three of
the four awards. Nine Specht won
first and Phyllis Specht. second,
in the junior division, and Cath
erine Specht, first in the senior
division.

President Bill Bear will be a sen
ior next year. He has gone to Tur
ner schools all of his school life.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Bear. Warren Gray, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Dorsey Gray, is a sophomore
coming from Marlon. He .ttended
school at Jefferson last veer.
Many homes in the Turner area
are operating on both "fast" and
standard time. The high school is
on standard time after trying day
light saving time. Due to the fact
that A urns vi 11 was still on stan
dard time, teachers teaching in
both the high schools found them
selves at the right place at the
wrong time or vice versa. How
ever the elementary school liked
the daylight time. They sent home
questionnaires aking what the
patrons wanted, with the result
that the majority of the people
wanted to continue that way.
The "last day of school" picnic
was held Thursday at the Marion
scool. A picnic lunch was served
at noon to a large group. School
is officially out Friday. All of the
present teachers have accepted
contracts for the coming yeer.

Henniee and Mrs. Hightower.
