Reason for Bevens' release Is

Seattle will get several pitchers.

DiMaggio. the New York Yankees
a uniform for the lirst time this
the club announced tonight.
Yankee-Cleveland game, traxeling
secretary Arthur (Red! Patterson
said that X-rays cf DiMaggios
; tender right heel taken earlier in
the day were encouraging.
"Joe DiMaggios right heel has
been X-rayed by our physicians
and showed enough improvement
lor DiMaggio to give it a try next
week. Patterson said. "Joe
will
get in uniform some time next
week and practice with the rest
of th team.'
DiMaggio has been out of uni
form since April 12. when new
pains in his heel, from which a
bone spur was removed last No
vember, caused him to be sidelined.
Yankee authorities were unwill-i
ing to guess when he would be
available for duty. However, one
official said that recent talk that'
Joe might be placed on the dis
abled list for 60 days "was absurd."
"Why would we be foolish
enough to put DiMaggio on the
inactive list for f50 days?" he
aked. "How do we know but he
might be in shape to play 45 of
those days?"
DiMag was a 'spectator at to
night's game. He sat on the Yan
kee bench, but was dressed in
ri ilian clothes.
