TRAVEL TIME . . . with many choosing the spring months for trips east and south . . . We thought mid-winter was the time Salem people treked south for sunny sojourns and to the Islands . . . but come spring ana suu more are traveling . . . From the European continent comes news of two Salem men. Soger Wagner and Dutch Simmons, who have completed their work at the University of Geneva, 5 witter land, and will now travel on the continent until August ... Join ing them on the trip is Clifford HerraU of Portland, a nephew .of Robert J. Herrall of Salem, who has been studying in Paris, hav ing gone abroad last summer . . . the first lap of their trip will be to Italy and well venture they won't miss any of the sights, as they are traveling by car. Headed east . . . come the first of April will be Patricia Vanden eyne, who will fly to Washing ton, D. C, arriving for Cherry Blossom time . . . She will be away a month and will visit In New York and on the east coast th friends and relatives . . . Enroute home she will stop in Grand Forks, North Dakota to see her grandparents, the Michael Vandeneyndes . . . Tearing . . . the eastern and southern states for six weeks or more are Mayor and Mrs. Robert I Elfstrom, who left Wednesday by car . . . first headed for Sherman, Texas, to see their son, Robert, who is stationed there with the army air corps . . . . then to Florida and a plane trip to Cuba . . . up the east coast to the New England states . . . The end of April their daughter, Patricia, will fly to Omaha to join them in' her father's home city. East bound ... the Stuart Johnsons and daughter, Evelyn, also left the past week for Mich igan to visit the Johnson's other daughter and son-in-law, the Ty rone Gillespies, at Midland for several weeks . . . Also headed east of Chicago and New York in early April will be the Ralph Coolers and coed daughter, Mar garet. Entraining . . . Monday for Denver will be Mrs. Stuart Lance field, who will attend the wed ding of her sister. Miss Jane orton Roberts, March SO . . . ther will serve as matron of honor. Highlights included the books' and authors luncheon at the Cocoanut Grove at the Ambassador hotel in Los Angeles, where she wss one of the six honor guests .1 . . In San Francisco she spoke at the admin istrative women's luncheon of the national education association meeting at the Sir Francis Drake hotel . . . and also before 400 patients at the tuberculosis hos pital in the bay city ... She spoke , in Salem a weeks ago on her return trip and; is now hard at work on her second book in Hood River ... Convention Bound Delegates from St. Paul's Epis copal church woman's auxiliary to the Episcopal convention in Port land are to be Mrs. J. W. The senior Wil lamette university coed is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Freres of Stayton. The wedding Is planned for this summer. Mr. Goodman, a Willamette graduate, is athletia coach at Canby high school. (Jesten-Miller). Paper Forms to Be Made in Class "Making Paper Dress Forms" will be the subject of a demon stration to be given March 23 and 24 at the Silverton Hills grange hall by Miss Lucy Lane, extension clothing s pecialist from Oregon State college. Members of Marion county home extension units are invited to attend. On March 23 'the meeting will start at 10. -00 a. m. and will close at 3:30 p. m. The making of two dress forms will be demonstrated during the day. On March 24 the meeting will open at 11:00 a. m. The building of a stand for dress forms will be shown at this meet ing. The uses for dress forms will also be discussed. Members of the Silverton Hills home extension unit will be hostesses for this meeting. Arrangements are being made by Miss Eleanor Trindle, county home economics extension agent. The Parent-Teacher fellowship will meet at the Salem College and Academy, Monday at 7:45 p. m. A Kick-Off Dinner The kick-off dinner of the Salem community concert association membership drive h$ been set for Monday night a the Senator hotel at 6:30 o'clock.. The committee in charge includes Mrs. Maurice But ler, Independence. Mrs. H. B. Pritzlaff and Mrs. Tom Anderson of Silverton.
