New Woodburn Theatre Open WOODBURN, Feb. 23 The new Pix theatre was opened here Tuesday night with a program featuring civic leaders. The event was welcomed by a capacity crowd for both showings. Veterans Show Rising Interest In State Loans War veterans are showing in creased interest in the Oregon state veterans' farm and home loan, the state department of vet erans' affairs reported Wednesday. Annual figures released by the department show that 14,451 in terviews in 1948 dealt with the $6,000, 4 per cent loan program. Only 5,284 such interviews were conducted in 1947. Other figures reveal that GI (federal) e d u c a t ional benefits ranked next to the loan program in importance to veterans, judging from the number of interviews. Apprenticeship training, employ ment problems, and state educa tional benefits followed. Altogeth er 27,698 interviews were con ducted by the veterans depart ment in the last two years on various veterans problems. Load Limit Cut on Silver Falls Road A 50 per cent reduction of the truck load limit on the Silver Falls highway between Shaw and Sil verton went into effect this morn ing by order of the state highway commission.
