The New Year's week
end promises to be a busy
one with at homes and
parties slated for nearly
every hour of the double
holiday.
Invitations are in the
mail this weekend to an

and their son, Evan, will
be hosts at the North

of Mrs. R. P. Boise on
New Year's Day. A large
group of their friends
have been invited to call
between 2 and 6 o'clock.

Year's Day open house
for which they will be
hosts at the Owen's resi

VACATIONING in the capital durinxth holidays are the Misses Jeanne Foster, stand
ing, and Janet Kirk, who are guests of their parents, Col. and Mrs. Eugene Foster and
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kirk. The young girls live in San Francisco, where they are attend
ing design school. Pictured with them here is their cocker, Taffi, who accompanied them
north. They will return to the bay city after New Year's.

Holiday Teas Slated ...

The holiday week will be gay with several informal teas
and at homes on the social agenda.
Tea to Fete a Visitor
For Wednesday afternoon is the tea for which Mrs. G.
Herbert Smith and her coed daughter, Miss Sally Smith,
will be hostesses at University House for the pleasure of
Mrs. Robert E. Guild, the former Paulie Wallace, who with
Mr. Guild, is here from Madison, Wis., for the holidays.
The Guilds are guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Paul B. Wallace and return to their studies at the
University of Wisconsin after the first of the year.
Mothers and daughters and friends of the honor guest
have been invited to call between 3 and 5 o'clock. Receiving
in the living room will be the hostesses, Mrs. Guild and
her mother, Mrs. Paul Wallace. Assisting about the rooms
will be Mrs. James Humphrey, Mrs. Carlton J. McLeod,
Mrs. Robert G. Brady, Mrs. Bruce Spaulding, Mrs. William
L. Phillips, and Mrs. Chester A. Downs.
Miss Elizabeth Lord and Miss Mabel P. Robertson will
preside at the urns the first hour and Mrs. James T. Brand
and Mrs. Charles A. Sprague will pcur the last hour. Serv
ing in the dining room will be Mrs. Robert W. Gormsen,
Misses Margie Smith, Evelyn Johnson. Carolyn Brady. Ad
dyse Lane, Edith Fairham, Roberta .Meyer, Pauline Morse
and Maxine Meyer.
At Home for the Young Set
Invitations are in the mail this weekend to an informal
holiday at home for which the Misses Janet Kirk and
Jeanne Foster will be hostesses on Thursday afternoon at
the Walter Kirk home on South High street. Miss Kirk and
Miss Foster, daughter of the Eugene Fosters, are home for
the holidays from San Francisco where they are attending
design school. They have invited sixty-five of thejr friends,
including many from the college set, to call between 3:30
and 5:30 o'clock.
The hostesses will receive informally in the living room
and assisting will be Miss Elizabeth Nelson, Miss Jean
Fidlcr, Miss Margaret Cooley, Miss Carolyn Carson and
Miss Phyllis Schnell.
CHRISTMAS visitors In the capital are Mr. and Mri. George Abbott and thres year old
son, George, of Nevada City, Calif. They are guests at the horn cf her br6ther-Ir
law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. Leon Barrick. Mr. Abbott Is coach at the Nevada Ctly hiihi
school and they will return south the end of the week. ,

M ISS Barbara Compton, who has been living in San Francisco for
several years, is spending the holiday season at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry V. Compton. Miss Compton will return to her
position with the special education division of the San Francisco public
schools on January 2.

Dance Event of Wednesday . .
Dances will also highlight the holiday social whirl during the coming week.
.Slated Wednesday night is the semi-formal dance for members: of the
young married set with Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Potter, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Carl
and Mr. and Mrs. Winston Taylor in charge of arrangements. The affair will
be held at the Mayflower hall with Glenn Williams orchestra engaged to play
for dancing twtween 9 and 12 o'clock. Over a hundred are expected to attend
the dance. The hatt will be festive with Christmas greens and refreshments
will be served at intermission.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Carl will entertain at a buffet dinner at their home
preceding the dance in honor of their out-of-town guests who are coming for
the affair. Covers will be placed for Mr. and Mrs. Fred McMullin, jr., of
Eugene, Mr. and Mrs. William Affolter of Sweet Hpme, Mr. and Mrs. C. A.
Stoddard, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bonner, Mr. and Mrs. Howard L. Jenks and
the hosts.

visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. A. A. Siewert. and with
her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Siewert. The visitor will
leave lor the east on December 30, where she has a position and is
studying voice in Philadephia.
Kanna Karma Gamma alumnae will entertain at tea on Thursday afternoon at the rir
mount Hill home of Mrs. Bruce Spaulding in honor of active memben md pledges, thtir moth
ers and Panhellenic representatives in the city. Calling hours are from 4 to o'clock. I i
