Mill City Opens
Water System
MILL CITY, Dec. 21 Mill City's
new $22,000 water system is
scheduled for completion soon af
ter the first of the year, Wayne
Jurgena, construction foreman,
reports. Cost of the project is ex
clusive of larger mains through
out the city.
Workmen are sinking a well by
the edge of the North Santiam
river. This will be dug five feet
below the river bottom, and a
filter system used. Water from
the well will be pumped to the
settling tanks, which measure 25
by 50 feet and 12 feet high. Here
the water will go through a series
of coils and settling basins.
A storage tank to replace the
old one now in service is planned,
but the Mountain States Power
company, owner of the water sys
tem, has been unable to get all
of the materials for It.
Also under construction is the
eight-inch main under the bridge
that crosses the river. This wijl
connect with two six-inch pipe
lines, one to serve the Hilltop area
and the other the Linn side which
includes Shepherd Addition.
