Stock Mart in
Holiday Groove
NEW YORK, Dec. 2 1-,P)-The
stock market got into a holiday
groove at the start of trading to
day and stayed there throughout
the session.
Closing prices showed only
fractional changes for the most
part.
Selling became a little more in
sistent during the final hour and
jfaint downward tendencies devel
oped but losses didn t amount to
much.
Turnover amounted to an even
1,000,000 shares, a slight lift from
Monday's 980,000. Business has
hovered around this figure
throughout December.
Tax selling continued to dribble
into the market and was counter
balanced by reinvestment and spe
culative purchases. Switching out
of one stock into another account
ed for a substantial part of the
activity.
The Associated Press average of
60 stocks declined .2 of one point
to 64.1, erasing yesterday's average
gain of the same amount. Of the
1,056 issues which appeared on the
ticker tape, 451 declined while
305 advanced.

Trade today, reflecting short cov

Shorts attempted to reduce the
open interest in wheat and oats,
but met resistance in light offer

deliveries made good progress.
At the close wheat was 1 -z to
