North Santiam
Unit Entertains
The North Santiam Woman's
extension unit held a Christmas
party Tuesday at the home of Mrs.
Lawrence Clark, Mrs. Otto Nelson,
Mr. Louis Scofield, Mrs. Merle
Crane, Mrs. Arden Hammen and
Mrs. Peter Kremer assisted.
Following a covered dish din
ner, readings were given by Mrs.
Hammer, Mrs. Edwin Ruby, Mrs.
Overholts.
Crane, Mrs. Marvin
Gifts were exchanged.
Twenty-three members and four
guests, Mrs. L. H. Peters, Mrs.
Gordon Knot, Mrs. Millard Ap
plet and Mrs. Elmer Glidwell at
tended. An all-day meeting for January
6 is being planned in the Marion
Farmers union building, with Miss
Eleanor Trindle demonstrating
"making a blouse a day." Hostess
es for the day are Mrs. Edwin
Ruby, Mrs. Cliff Martin. A cov

noon.

married on November 21 at the home of Mrs. Gwendolyn
Collins. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie
Gaub of Brooks and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs.
E. P. Harrison of North Bend. The couple will live In Salem.

her Kingwood Heights home to

ty Medical auxiliary Tuesday
night. A dessert supper was fol
lowed by meeting and program.

ry to sponsor a Camp Fire group.
Mrs. Carl Emmons was appointed
representative of the sponsoring
group. An offering was taken for
a radio to be given to Hillcrest.

her home on Glen Creek Drive
Tuesday. The annual turkey din
ner was served at one o'clock with

At Gift Shop
Mrs. Dow Lovell, Mrs. Theo
dore Ullakko, Mrs. Bert A. Walk
er and Mrs. Elvin Thomas were
in Portland Tuesday to assist the
veterans at the Veterans hospital
in selection of Christmas gifts,
wrapping and mailing. The four
made a report of their visit at
the American Legion auxiliary,
136, meeting Tuesday night at the
Woman's clubhouse. The unit
voted to assist in purchasing
Christmas presents for veterans
at the tuberculosis hospital and
to provide clothing and a basket
to a veteran's family.
A report was made on the Mar
ion county council meeting last
Friday at the Senator hotel for
which 138 unit was hostess. Mrs.
Harold Streeter was elected vice
president of the counciL Mrs.
Harlan Judd has been appointed
to the flag code contest commit
tee andj Mrs. Ullakko was ap
pointed jto represent the unit in
sponsoring a Camp Fire group.
The program included a his
tory of Christmas carols by Mrs.
Clifton Mudd and singing of
carols, led by Mrs. E. Jack Simp
kins with Mrs. Mudd at the piano.
Mrs.. Robert DeArmond was pro
gram chairman with Mrs. Mudd.
After the meeting members ex
changed! gifts and randy canes
were given the children.

to Miss Florene Inglis of Dallas,
bride-eltct of Mark Peter Miller
of Portland. Their wedding will be
an evenjt of December 28 at the
First Christian church in Dallas.
Miss Inglis will be honored at
a luncheon at the Rocquet club in
Portland on Saturday when Mrs.
G. Gilbert Robbins entertains, and
in the evening of' the same day
Miss Inglis will be feted at her
honor guests at a party for which

hosts at the home of Mrs. Mark

Head Junior Guild
The junior guild of the St
Paul's Episcopal church elected
Mrs. Paul Gemmell as president
at a business meeting held fol
lowing the group's annual Christ
mas party for husbands and
friends of members in Tuesday.
The affair was held at Parrish
hall and a no-host luncheon was
served.
Guests were Mrs. Jesse Camp
bell, Mrs. Carl Quistad, Mr. and
Mrs. Max Alford. Frank Brown
ell, Eugene Foster, W. C. Gabriel,
Harry Wenderoth, Paul Gemmell,
John Langrell, R. E. Meredith,
Cal Patton, E. E. Smith and Hom
er Smith, sr.
Mrs. Custer Ross headed the
hostess committee and Mrs. W. C.
Gabriel, Mrs. John Langrell and
Mrs, R. E. Meredith were in charge

tions and lighted the tables with
