Bake in a 10x12 greased pan for 40 minutes in a moderate oven. Cut in squares 1'? x 2'i inches. Then there's the old world spe cialty, Lebkuchen, which was a must" at Christmas in old Ger many. LEBKUCHEN 4 whole eggs 2 cups light brown sugar 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon cinnamom 2 ounces citron, cut fine pound almonds, cut. fine Beat eggs well, add sugar grad ually and beat again. Mix flour and cinnamon with chopped nuts and citron. Combine twa mixtures. Bake in flat greased pans at 375 degrees and when cool cut in strips about 5 inches long, frosting with pink or white icing before remov ing from pan. Au Revoir Party For Stewarts Mr. and Mrs. Bruce VanWyn garden will be hosts for an au revoir party Saturday night at their Jefferson street home In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stewart, who are leaving the end of the month for Portland to make their home, where Mr. Stewart will be engaged in public account ing work. The Stewarts have a daughter, Linda, and they have purchased a home in Portland, planning to move after Christmas. Bridge will be in play during the evening with a late supper following. The holiday motif will be carried out in the decorations. Campfire Corner The Otakuye Camp Fire group met Monday night and the girls organized for an evening of Christ mas caroling and individual re ports were given on a group treas ury project sponsored by the group. Fourteen met at the home of Mrs. Charles Lambert Wednesday for a special practice before their radio broadcast, December 16. The girls are members of the Soenki Camp Fire group. Meeting Wednesday to finish Christmas gifts they have been making, 13 Rainbow and Cherrian Blue Birds also drew names and completed plans for their Christ mas parties. . Mrs. L. Thomas and her 20 John ny Jump Up Blue Birds were busy Monday making home decorations and Christmas gifts. For decora tions the girls made Christmas bells from tin can tops and Christ mag wreaths with fruit jar bands and bits of greenery. Delta Zeta Party At Deischer's Delta Zeta alumnae was en tertained Tuesday at the home of Miss Mildreo Deischer, with Mrs. Charles H. Derthick assist ing. Coed Tells Betrothal Romantic news revealed at the Delta Gamma house on the Wil lamette university campus Tues day night was the engagement of Miss Alene Axelson, daughter of Mrs. Verne Axelson, to Roland Hendrickson, son of Mrs. Marv Hendrickson of Salem and C. H. Hendrickson of Newberg. No date has been set for the wedding. During the dinner hour the tra ditional box of candy was passed bearing the news and ring. The Christmas motif was carried out in the decorations. Miss Axelson is a sophomore ; at Wjllamette university and her, fiance is with the Yeater Appli ance Co.
