train on December 18 from
Midland college, Nebraska, to
spend Christmas.

Holiday Visitors Soon to Arrive . . .

College students from the south, east and the Oregon schools will begin arriving home
for the holidays this coming weekend. Visitors and others, who have bfen away during the
fall and early winter, will also arrive in the capital in the next fortnight to spend Christ
mas with their families.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Guild (Paulie Wallace), who have been in Mndion, Wisconsin,
where they are attending the University of Wisconsin, since their marriage in Aucrust, are
expected to arrive in Salem on December 20 to spend the holidays at the Wallace Orchards
home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Wallace. Also guests at the Wallace home for
Christmas will be Miss Edna Sterling of Seattle, who will arrive on December 23. and Mr.
and Mrs. E. H. Gormsen of Spokane, who will be guests of their son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Gormsen.
Mrs. Keith Blown and daughter, Sharon, are expected home from Palm Springs short
ly before Christmas. Mr. Brown preceded his family north and they will all return south
again after the holidays.
Major and Mrs. Howard Adams of Monterey, Calif., will be home for Christmas this
year as guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.H. H. Corey. They plan to arrive on December
18 and will be here a fortnight.
Mr. and Mrs. William King of Washington, D. C. will be holiday visitors in Salem as
guests of his uncles and families, Mr. and Mrs. George Riches and Mr., and Mrs. Lloyd Rich
es. They plan to be here until mid-January, arriving by train on December 20.
Mrs. Dwight Aden of Spokane will spend the holidays in Salem with her parents. Mr,
and Mrs. Gordon Black, arriving next weekend She will, also visit with relatives in Port
land and Wilsonville. Mr. Aden and the three children will arrive just before Christmas

Tuesday afternoon Mrs. C. R. Kingan will be a tea hostess at her Fairmount Hill home
tor the pleasure of Mrs. L. Everett deWeese, a newcomer in the capital from Portland. A
group of young; matrons have bee i invited to call between 3 and 4:30 o'clock. Assisting
the hostess informally will be Mrs. Donald A. Young, Mrs. Donald McCargar and Mrs. John
Griffith.
, Thursday afternoon Mrs. Homer H. Smith will entertain with her annual Christmas
party for the pleasure of members of the Ton and Country club at her North Summer
street residence. Bridge and exchan e of gilts will follow the luncheon hour.
The Gaiety Hill garden club will gather at the Ben Lomand park home of Mrs. W.
Wells Baum Monday jnorning for the annual all day Christmas meeting. The group will
make Christmas wreaths, garlands and other decorations.' Luncheons will be served by the
hostess at noon.
Mrs. Frederick Lamport will entertain the Travel Study club at her Ben Lomand park
residence at luncheon Monday aiternoon. Mrs. James T. Brand will be a guest and show
