he had been confined with injuries
incurred in an automobile accident

1948 graduate of Salem high school,

Nurses to Get
Psychiatric
Training Here
Contracts for all Oregon nurs
ing schools to send students to
Oregon state hospital for a three
months course in psychiatric nurs
ing were signed during the past
week at a meeting here of school
directors and the institution's
staff.
The hospital has offered the
course for some time, with most
of the schools sending students
here. Beginning in 1950 the course
will be mandatory for all nursing
trainees.
While here the school represen
tatives toured the wards where
student nurses receive clinical ex
perience and the dormitory facili
ties. Schools included University of
Oregon medical school of nursing.
University of Portland college of
nursing, Emanuel hospital of Port
land, Portland Sanitarium and
Hospital, Good Samaritan of Port
land, Providence of Portland, The
Dalles General hospital. Sacred
Heart of Eugene. St. Anthony cf

A list of adult education classes

ter term of Salem's extension
from the state system of higher
education was announced Satur
day by George Porter, adult edu
cation director. The winter term
for all adult education classes
will begin January 3.
The courses planned for college
credit, each for three term hours,
are history of the Pacific north
west, advanced mental hygiene,
speech, construction and use of
visual aids, all on Mondays; pot
tery, education of the handicap
ped child, both on Tuesdays:
geography of North America, art
structure II, special teaching
methods In music, current affairs.
all on Wednesdays; ceramics on
Thursdays.

with questions or with requests
for added classes.
