Goode, a striking looking woman,
went to Miami with a complete
new wardrobe, never appearing in
the same outfit twice . . . For
her installation she wore an all-
navy costume, a crepe dress trim
med in crisp taffeta, taffeta hat
and white orchids . . ". and car
rying eight, dozen red roses . .
Monday when she made the rounds
Of the caucuses of the national
auxiliary's regional divisions she
wore a charcoal grey faille dress
with alligator shoes and purse, a
velour hat of delft blue and for a
touch of color a pale pink-mauve
orchid ... and for the all-states
dinner, the major social event of
the convention, she also chose
blue, her favorite color ... an
electric blue crepe with blue se
quin bodice, slippers and gloves
of the same blue ... A recep
tion hi her honor followed the din
ner at Oregon headquarters, Al
catraz hotel . . . Mrs. Goode is
known for her good "clothes
sense 1 and planned and shopped
with care for her convention cos
tumes ...

Now in New York
Word has come to Dean Melvin
Geist from Michael Carolan who
went to New York this fall to con
tinue his voice work. He is study
ing voice with Mrs. Neidlinger and
coaching at the Juilliafd School of
Music with Charles Baker in ora
torio. Recently he was appointed
tenor soloist at Church of the
Ascension on Fifth Avenue tinder
the direction of Vernon deTar.
While at Willamette Carolan was
soloist three years with the Salem
Oratorio society in the annual
performance of Handel's The
Messiah." He graduated last spring
from the Willamette University
College of Music with a major in
voice. He was a member of the A
Capella choir and tenor soloist in

Mothers to Hear Dean .
Miss Mary Bash, new dean of
women at Oregon State college,
will be the guest speaker at the
first fall meeting of the Oregon
State mothers Monday afternoon
at the Salem Woman's clubhouse
at 2 o'clock. Mrs. L. O. Arens is
president of the mothers this year.
Members are asked to bring their
rummage for the sale to be held
