DALLAS, Ore, Sept. 10 The
Rev. Cyril Hanney, with his wife
and 5-month -old daughter Dwyn
neth, has arrived In Dallas to be
gin his work as vicar of St Thom
as Protestant Episcopal church,
with services each Sunday.

Corvallis has been conducting
services in the local church once
each month.
The Rev. Mr. Hanney will also

20. This is the decision of the
union high school district board.
Classes will be held in both
Turner and Aumsville school
buildings. Remodeling which Is
under way Is delaying the open
ing, the board found at its meet
ing this week.
AUMSVILLE, Sept. 10 The
schools at Aumsville will open
Monday, September 13. The
Aumsville section of union high
school 5 and the grade school will
be In their own buildings.

Trinity church, with promotion in
all Sunday school classes. At noon
will be a fellowship dinner for
the congregation and friends, fol
lowed by a program. Ladies' Aid

HAYESVTLLE The Hayes-
ville school will open Monday,
September 13, a week earier than
in former years. Classes will meet
Monday only for registration and
assignments.
Genevieve Wegner, the new
principal, will also teach the 7th

DALLAS, Ore., Sept. 10 Her
man Van Well, Polk county judge,
and a delegation of citizens met
at the Fred Elkins farm south of
Monmouth Thursday to consider
improvements in the Camp Adair
and Luckiamute river area with
U. S. Sen. Wayne Morse.
They viewed aerial maps of
the area, then went to the river
to study the proposition of
straightening channels to secure
better drainage.
They also went to the camp to
view roads and some of the
bridges. Polk county is asking
federal funds to help restore the
roads and bridges to the same
condition as when the govern
ment took over. Senator Morse
is aiding with the request.

mouth, John Dickenson and John
Pfaff of Independence, Claude
Hnisincton of Dallas and W. E.

STAYTON While blasting
stumps on his farm in Coon Hol
low, Al Phillips was painfully in
jured Wednesday afternoon when
a box containing 30 Or more caps
exploded.
His son, Claude Phillips, work
ing about 20 feet away from his
father, turned around Just in
time to see him jump away as trie
caps exploded. ;
He was brought to the office
of Dr. R. P. Andersen and rushed
to Salem Memorial hospital In the
first aid car of the Stayton fire
department. Phillips sustained in
juries along his entire left side,
with gravel and grass Imbedded.
