Exam Set in Hit-Run Case Preliminary examination on charges of negligent homicide was set August 24 for Joseph W. Brown, Woodburn. Brown, held in lieu of $2,500 bail, is charged with the hit-and-run death of 18-year- old Eugene Reedy, Portland, and critically injuring a brother, Am brose Alvin Reedy. The two youths were, struck Wednesday night near Hubbard while bicycling home to Portland from summer work in the Eugene area. Ambrose Reedy was reported to be "holding his own" early Sat urday morning in the Salem Mem orial hospital. Brown pleaded guilty Friday in District court to charges of being intoxicated on a public highway and was fined $50 and costs.
