William McGowan of the
American ' league was suspended
today until an investigation ean
bo made of his actions in the
Cleveland-Washington game here
last night. j
The suspension was announced
in Chicago by League President
Will Harridge. It followed a com
plaint by Washington Manager
Joe Kuhel that McGowan cursed
and threw things at his players.

at 6:30 o'clock and, reasonably
enough, Manager Jack Wilson
right now doesn't know who will
start the pitching for Salem. His
undermanned hurling corps al
ready badly overworked, Mgr.
Wilson, likely will play eeny
meeny before nominating a start
er tonight. Skipper Ted Norbert
of the visitors is almost sure to
toss Len Kasparovitch and Del
Owens, a pair of whizzballers,
for his talented troupe.
Although he was toiling with
but two days of ret. Mclrvin
flipped a five-hitter at the A's
in last night's opener. Lefty Cal
was Wild, walking seven, but
was a tough hombre in the
pinches and picked up two dou
ble plays from his mates to help

full advantage of three Solon
miscues and although they scored
eight times off Bobby Stevenson,
only three of the runs were earn
ed. Both sides collected 11 hits,
but the Salem bobbles amounted
to the difference. Those and the
brilliant relief hurling of Lefty
Jim Propst, who replaced Starter
Frsmk Logue in tho seventh, with
the A's three runs-up. and pro
ceeded to whiff five of the nine
Senators he faced from there in.
