Plan Program
Marlon county women plan to
learn about fixing up their homes,
how to make more of "the new
look" for themselves with great
er ease, have fun and with all
grew old gracefully.
This is indicated in the home
extension program adopted at the
program planning day here at
tended by representatives of the
29 extension units. The -program
as adopted includes a cotton dress
workshop, a district meetinf on
making dress forms, unit meet
ings on wall finishes, party plan
ning and favors, meal planning,
blouse in day, broiled dinners,
short cuts in ironing and also
how to grow old gracefully.
Mrs. E. A. Beuglie of Silverton
Hills, and Mrs. I. G. Lermon, Lan
sing Meadows, were named mem
bers of the county extension com
mittee to replace Mrs. Rex Hart
ley, Sidney-Talbot. and Mrs. G.
L. Briedwell, Silverton, whose
terms were completed.

back from Bend where he had
been for some time receiving
treatment for an infection.
Mr. and Mrs. Jewel Myers re
turned Saturday from La Grande
where they were called by the
death of her mother, Mrs. Eliza
beth Bauschor. ( ,
VI itors at the Otis White home
last week: were his mother, Mrs.
H. A. White of Eugene, and Anna
Wold of North Dakota, who left
Monday for Dunsmuir, Calif. The
elder Mrs. White will return soon
to Eugene.
Mr. and Mrs. John Estey stay
ed in Salem on Saturday, driving
on to Holley Sunday to spend the
day with her sifter and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Booker.
Mrs. F. L. Noble, Raymond
Sophy, Mrs. Lorraine Rice and
children, Russell and Richard,
were guests Sunday of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Baldwin of Stay
ton in honor of Mrs. Noble, moth
er of Mrs. Baldwin, also honor
ing Mrs. Rice on her birthday.
The D. E. Woods family had a
picnic Sunday near Sisters.
Mrs. Ora McMasters of Cannon
Beach is spending some time with
her daughter, Mrs. Frank Steen
hout, jr. and family.
Will Sail for Japan
After Jefferson Visit
JEFFERSON Mrs. I. O. Ha
gen, Alice and John of Oklahoma
City, and her brother. Ed Fessler
of Maywood, Calif., visited their
sister, Mrs. Charles Sarver. this
week. Mrs. Hagen and children
sail from Seattle Friday bound
for Yokohama where Hagen is
stationed. Fessler helped them
drive through in their car. They
visited their father who is bed
fast at the Sarvers.

spent the weekend at Corvallis

mained for a few days visit with

Ronner for a month. She recently
returned from an extended visit
in Schenectedr, N. Y.
Mrs. Gail Toxel is a patient at
the Salem General hospital.

Second baseball game of the
season for the newly organized
team of the Four Star league, un
der the management of Lloyd
Seely. was played with St. Paul
here last Sunday with a score of
15 to 7 in favor of Gervais.
Annual Homecoming of Fidel

held Thursday, May 13, preceded

Linn Girls Competing
For Strawberry Queen
LEBANON Linn county high
schools have named candidates for
queen of Lebanon's 36th annua
strawberry festival and choice will
be made at the queen's ball,
scheduled for Wednesday evening,
May 19 at the Cottonwoods. The
Lebanon junior chamber of com
merce is in charge of the event.
