Chairmen to
Be Honored
At a Tea
The Fine Arts and Public Wel
fare departments of the Salem
Woman's club will entertain with
a program and tea Monday after
noon at the Center street home of
Mayor and Mrs. Robert L. EU
strom between 2:30 and 5 o'clock.
This will brine the year's activi
ties of the two departments to
close.
Honor guests will be the two
retiring chairmen, Mrs. Clifton B.
Mudd and Mrs. F. M. Lobdell. who
have served as chairman of their
respective departments for 13 con
secutive years. Mrs. Mudd is a
past president of the Sakra Wom
an's dub, Salem Arts League,
third district, Oregon Federation
of Women's clubs, and directed
Oregon's pageant at the General
Federation convention in Atlan
tic City in 1941. She is now serv
ing as bailiff in the Marion county
courts. Mrs. Lobdell has served
for many years as teacher of Eng
l.h and librarian at the Chemawa
Indian school. For eight yurs she
was on the Salem city eouacu ana
is now on the city planning and
zoning commission.

Thirty college students from Sa
lem College and Academy held a
banquet at Silver Creek Falls on
Friday night. Apple blossoms dec
orated the tables. Talent from the

Miss Pearl Mann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Mann of Sacramento, formerly of Portland, whose engage
ment to Donald Flay Breakey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest
W. Breakey of Salem, has been announced. The wedding Is
planned for August and will take place In Salem. Both
will continue with their studies at Willamette university in

Miss Jean Taylor, formerly of Sa
lem, will be married on May 18
to Samuel James Stinebaugh, Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Stine
baugh of Grants Pass, In Portland
at St. Michaels and All Angels'
Episcopal church at 3 o'clock with
the Rev. George Turney officiat
ing. The bride-elect, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Sherman Taylor
of Portland, will be given in mar
riage by her father. She has asked
Mrs. R. H. Roberts of Portland,
an Alpha Phi sorority sister, to
be her matron of honor. John
Schaefers of Eugene, Phi Gamma
Delta fraternity 'brother of the
benedict-elect, will serve as best
man. Ushers will be Charles D.
Schofield of Eugene and Richard
H. Lark in of Portland, also fra
ternity brothers.
Only members of the immediate
family and a few friends will at
tend the ceremony and reception
to be held in the Pompeiian room
of the Congress hotel. The couple
will live in Grants Pass.
