Mother takes top billing today, and she'll be feted, pamrered and especial ly loved this Mothers Day. We've pic tured a group of Salem's mothers - -who've even turned grandmother. - Mrs. C. S. Hamilton is the mother of three sons, Arthur, who lives in Es sex, Conn., Ralph and Clarence of Sa lem, and six grandchildren. Mrs. Rue Drager has three sons and three daughters, John, who is in Shanghai with the Texaco Oil Co., Douglas of Forest Grove. Robert of Sa lem, Mrs. Ruby Mishler of Portland, Mrs. Clarence Hamilton and Mrs. lames H. Nicholson, jr. of Salem. There are five grandchildren in her family. Mrs. A. F. Marcus has three daugh ters, Mrs. H. G. Becker of Portland, Miss Helen Marcus and Mrs. Earl Cooley of Salem., and three grandchildren. Mrs. Charles E. Wagner's four chil dren are Paul of Monroe, Wash.. Miss Margaret Wagner and Mrs. Vernon Drye of Salem and Roger, a senior at Oregon State college. Also in the fam ily are four grandchildren. Mrs. Gene Vandeneynde's family includes a son, Rodney, of Portland, two daughters, Miss Patricia Vanden eynde and Mrs. John Steelhammer of Salem, and two grandchildren. At a country wedding in New England on June 2 Miss France Kelts, daughter of Mr. and Mn Claude A. Kelli, will become the bride of Ed mond Morgan MacCollin. ion of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond M. MacCollin of Stetney, Conn. The ceremony will be performed at Tashua Episcopal church in Trumbull, Conn., at 4 o'clock with a reception following at the MacCollin home at "The Merry mac Farm." As the groom-elect's mother would be unable to come west for the rites the young couple have planned their wedding to take place in the east. Miss Mary Elizabeth Kells, the bride-elect's eldest sister, who is now In New York City, will be her sister's maid of honor and will also sing at the nuptials. Mr. and Mrs. Kells, who left the first of last week for the ast to attend conferences, will be present for the ceremony. Miss Kells will leave for Connecticut on May 28 The young couple will com west on their honeymoon te spend the summer in Oregon. Two formal dances are on the social slate for the coming weekend. The Wisteria dance club will be entertained Frida night at the' Veter an's hall with Guy Albin and his Top Hatters playing for dancing. Th hall will be decorated in the spring motif and supper will be set-red fol lowing the affair. The directorate for the dance includes Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. Dayle Jory, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Fish, Dr. and Mrs. John Ram age, Mr. and Mrs. John Langrell, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin McEwcn and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Krueger. 3 Several parties are being arranged to precede and follow the dance. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Morrow have invited a lew friends to their Stat street home before the dance to meet their guests. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Berglund. Sixteen have been bidden to the dessert supper. Sojourners to Dance i " The Sojourners Dancing club will entertain with the last dance of the season Saturday night at the Mayflower hall with Sunny St. Clair and her orchestra engaged to play for the f'fair. Refreshments will b served at 8:30 o'clock with dancing from 9 to 12 o'clock. Election of offi cers will be held during the evening. "Merry Month of May" is the theme of the dance with baskets bf pink dogwood and pink apple blossoms to be arranged about the-hall. The buffet tables will be covered with green cloths and centered with bou quets of pink rhododendrons and pink tapers in crystal holdersJ There will be a surprise feature preceding the grand march.
