Robert Busick at Qhurch
Nuptials on Friday
White with a touch of pale blue and shocking pink was the color
scheme Miss Patricia Anne Brown selected for her wedding to Robert
Gene Busick on Friday night at the First Methodist church. The
bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Blaine Brown and was given
in marriage by her father. The benedict's parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Claude Busick. It was at 8 o'clock that the Rev. Brooks Moore per
formed the ceremony before a set-
ting of pink crabapple blossoms,
pink snapdragons, white stock and
woodwardia fern.
Reid Shelton sang "I Love Thee"
and "The Lord's Prayer" with
Miss Katherine Schissler the or
ganist. Miss Daphne Lekas and
Miss Joan Cloudy, wearing pastel
green and yellow dresses, lighted
the tapers.
Of ivory slipper satin was the
bridal gown, a Gladyce Failer
original, fashioned with a Peter
Pan collar, embellished with satin
beading, tiny satin buttons down
the front. Ions: sleeves edged with
the beading and a full gathered
skirt which terminated in a court
train. Her fingertip length veil of
imported French ivory illusion
cascaded from a coronet of bou
vardia. She carried a white Bible
marked with a white orchid and
satin streamers with bouvardia.
For "something old" she carried
the handmade lace handkerchief
which Mrs. W. E. Kirk had car
ried at her wedding.
Miss Shirley Brown was her sis
ter's honor maid and Mrs. Warren
Brown, sister-in-law of the bride,
Mrs. Edward Land and Miss Mary
Phelps were bridesmaids. The
girls all wore identical dresses of
white chiffon designed on Gre
cian lines with Point-Venice lace
yoke at the waistline and cap
sleeves of the lace. They wore
coronets of braided chiffon caught
at each end with bouvardia. The
maid of honor carried a sheaf of
pastel blue calla lilies and the at
tendants' sheafs were of shocking
pink callas.
David Ramseyer, jr., stood with
the groom as best man and seating
the guests were William Olsen,
Dave Melson, Donald Price, and
Warren Brown.

When the couple left on their
honeymoon trip south the bride
donned an imperial gold wool
crepe suit, cinnamon and white
hat with cinnamon and gold ac
cessories. Her topper was a shortie
white cut-away and pinned to her
suit was a white orchid. Mr. Bu
sick and his bride will be at home
in Salem after May 23.

Lee, Monday night Miss Shirlee

Shelton, a senior at Salem high
school, daughter of Van Shelton
of Scio, to Lynn Barker, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest S. Barker,

Lodge, was honored at a p re-nuptial
party Thursday night when
Mrs. Esther W. Little entertained
at the YWCA. Miss Essley is
younger girls program director at

A miscellaneous shower feted
the bride-to-be and a late des
sert supper followed. During the
evening the guests made dish
towels for the future bride. The
table centerpiece carried out the
April showers theme with a pink
and white umbrella and under it
a bouquet of spring flowers. Ex
tending from the umbrella were
little flowered notes tied to pink
ribbon which told the bride-elect
where to find her gifts

Two more names are added to
the ever-growing list of brides
elect today.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Martin
are announcing the engagement of
their daughter. Miss Evelyn Mar
tin, to Arthur Meola, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Michael Meola of New
ark, NJ.
The bride-elect is a graduate
of Salem high school and has been
employed for three years in Sa
lem, Oregon City and Albany as
a music instructor.
Mr. Meola is a graduate of New
Jersey schools. After spending
three years in the navy as a radar
technician on a cruiser, he and
a partner formed the Aladdin
Landscape service in Salem.
The couple plan a late summer
wedding.
Miss Pauline Miller, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. ateve J. Miner, has
revealed her betrothal to Ross
Morrow, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ross Morrow of Hubbard. No wed
ding plans have been made by
the young couple.
Miss Miller and her fiance are
graduates of Salem schools and
she is now employed at the sec
retary of state's office. Mr. Mor
row is with the Hubbard Chevro

Over a hundred couples attend
ed the dinner dance at the Marion
hotel with Guy Albin's : orchestra
playing for dancing and during
the dinner hour 'a string duet
played. The May day theme was
carried out in the decorations
with May baskets tied with pink
bows and filled with garden
flowers centering the tables. Pas
tel crepe paper ribbon formed an
improvised May pole on the ceil
ing. Blossoms and flowers were
twined around the mirrored posts.
Malvin Rudd headed the decora
tion committee.

In Silverton
The Pythian Sisters district No.
2 convention was held in Silver
ton Wednesday, with twenty
women from Salem attending. A
business session was held in the
afternoon with the Salem Junior
officer and delegation exempli
fying the installation of officers
and presenting a bouquet in hon
or of the late Mary Aplin and
Pearl Kinzer of Salem.;
In the evening a banquet was
held at the Methodist church fol
lowed by a meeting and enter
