Saturday when the 12th annual
dog show of Dog Fanciers Asso
ciation of Oregon and Salem Lions
club opened its two-day competi

City Council
May Add to
May 21 Ballot
Legislation aiming at city elec
tions May 21, in conjunction with
general elections. Is on the agenda
for Salem's city council Monday
at 7:30 p. m. at Salem Chamber of
Commerce.
Three bills which will be up
for possible final action set a
special election for that date, pro
pose an $815,000 bond issue to
finance the contemplated sewage
disposal plant and seek a vote on
annexation of a large territory to
the southeast of present city
boundaries.
A twice-delayed bill to re
quire taximeters and to provide
licensed street stands for taxi
cabs is also scheduled for con
sideration, and amendments are
probable inasmuch as local taxi
firms disagreed on the legisla
tion when it first appeared be
fore the council last month.
