Monday, city police said. Police
also reported that cars driven by
Cyrus W. Tyomstand, Corvallie,
and Roe V. Smith. Lyons, collided
in the 100 block on North rront
street, also on Monday. Norte of
the vehicles was damaged and all
the drivers escaped unhurt, police
stated.

quitted of a charge of non-supped
following a preliminary hear

day. The suit against Fears was

Parolee Due
For Jail Term
Floyd Witt, whose parole of la it
August was revoked Saturday by
Marion County Circuit Judge
George Duncan, will be" returned
here from Rose burg soon, Marion
County Sheriff Denver Young said
Monday.
Witt was sentenced her last
year to six months in the county
jail on a charge of lewd and las
civious cohabitation and then
paroled. Shirley Curry, facing the
same charge, was given a sus
pended Jail sentence of 90 days at
Marion county district court.
Douglas county authorities have
notified Sheriff Young that the
woman is serving-- 90-day jail
sentence there for vagrancy. Witt
is awaiting disposition of a charge
of soliciting to which he has plead
ed guilty.
Employe Housing
Plan Before Board
The state board of control at
today's meeting will consider
awarding a contract for construc
tion of an employes' dormitory at
the Eastern Oregon State Tu
berculosis hospital at The TJalles.
The building was estimated to
cost approximately $235,000 and
would have a capacity of 48 per
sons. Hospital officials said th
dormitory was badly needed be
cause of the acute housing short
age. Basic School Fund
Installment Ready
Checks aggregating $7,652,139,
representing the second Install
ment under the basic school sup
port law, will be mailed during the
current week, Lester A. Wilcox,
assistant superintendent of public
instruction, announced Monday.
Approximately 1,453 Oregon
school districts will share In the
apportionment. First apportion
ment made Sept 15, 1947 was for
about the same amount.

20-Year Bond Plan

Citizens' Group
A recommendation that the
school board of Salem district 24
propose a $1,500,000 bond issue
to be retired in 20 yPars was ap
proved Monday by a local citizens'
committee which last month op
posed the district's suggested $3,
500,000 bond issue (for construc
tion purposes) which was defeated
in a district vote.
The property owners' commit
tee, headed by Henry R. Crawford,
