day and driving down the same
day were Richard and Kay Cham
bers and Frank and Helen Cross
. . . all registered at the Fair
mount hotel . . . The Robert
Cannons also went south for the
convention and had rooms at the
Mark Hopkins . . . Enroute the
Cannons stopped in Sacramento
one night for a visit with her bro
ther and sister-in-law, the Robert
Reads . . . and Saturday night
motored to Hollia ter for a visit
with Meredith and Francis Hug
gins . . . Accompanying the tra
velers was Esther Baird, who plans
to remain for a longer stay ...
Te Long Beach . . . The John
S. Locheads will leave this week
on a leisurely trip south, driving
down . . . Their headquarters
will be in Long Beach, where they
will visit their son-in-law and
daughter, Hubert and Joan Wil
liamson, for a month.
SOUTH OF THE BORDER . . .
The W. L Needhams leave on an
interesting trip today . . .first driv
ing to Long Beach, Calif, where
they will store their car . . . .

liams of Long Beach, Calif,, for
luncheon . . . Mingling with the

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Cummlngs.
EXCITING TRIP . . . Just
completed by Major and Mrs. Jo
seph Craig (Prisdlla Walsh) and
their small children, Prisdlla and
Victoria . . . They have been
stationed at Prescrue Isle, Maine
and their new assignment is at St.
Johns, Newfoundland . . . the
army officer la with the air trans
port command ... In the past
the Craigs have always flown to
their bases, but this time wanted
to make the trip by car and not
miss any of the sights . . . They
started out by car, outfitted with
two heaters, on the 1200 mile trip,
which took a week . . . First to
St John, New Brunswick where
they took cabin passage and fer
ried across the Bay of Fundy . . .
then by auto up the coast of Nova
Scotia ... a most picturesque
country where they saw many
sleighs with bells and horses,
which pulled aside to let them
pass . . . the highways are kept
open with snow plows ahead of
them most of the way, which made
traveling quite slow ... At Syd
ney, Cape Breton Isle they took a
night trip by boat across Cabot
Straits to Port Basque . . . and
then a continental train, with car
aboard, across the southern part
of Newfoundland to St Johns . . .
finally escorted to their base by
snow plow. ... The train trip

English people and army person
nel traveling . . . ana supcro
meals. . . . This summer the
Craigs hope to tour the island
and visit Prince Edward Isle,
where Mr. Craig's father's peo
ple reside.
