The marriage of Miss Donna
Marie Boyle, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. A. C. Boyle, to Kenneth H.
Smith, son Mrs. Floyd Allen,
took place on September 21 at 4
o'clock at the First Christian
church with tne Rev. J. M. Good
heart officiating. Mrs. John
Schmidt, jr., was the organist.
The altar was decorated with
mums and orchid and white as
ters. Lighting the tapers were
Miss Edith Kyle and Mrs. Helen
Brantner.
The bride, given In marriage by
her father, wort a stone blue
dressmaker suit with black hat
and accessories. She carried a
Bible marked with an orchid.
Miss Vera Boyle was her sis
ter's only attendant and wore an
orchid dress with brown acces
sories and corsage of white car
nations. Noel Ferry stood with
the groom as best man and
ushers were Paul Dillle and
Queittin Smith.
The newlyweds will live In Cor
vallis while he Is attending aero
nautical engineering school at the
Corvallla airport. Both, attended
Salem high school and he served
in the navy during the war.

ing marriage of Miss Norma Jean
Kennedy, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. C. D. Kennedy, to Melvln
Noack, aon of Mr. and Mrs. Er
nest Noack, on October 24.
Miss Kennedy is a gradual of
Salem high school and is now em
ployed at the state tax commis
sion. Mr. Noack, formerly of
Sandy, Ore., is employed in con
struction work in Salem.

ganist. The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
white satin gown and floor length
veil which fell from a coronet of
seed pearls. Mrs. Milton Kroeker
was her sister's matron of honor
and "bridesmaids were Miss Eva
Agee and Mr. Orrin Ogier. Robert
Pike was best man and ushers
were John and Claude Pike.
A reception was held in the
church parlors.
The couple is now at home in
Tigard following a trip to the Ore
gon coast

son has named as historian, Mrs.

to make more interesting early morning menus. Some women find
they like to add bacon to the batter, slip in a few raisins or even
blueberries or huckleberries. It's fund to vary the ingredients.
Everyone has her own recipe.
but here's one standard one to
work with:
WAFFLE BATTER
1 egg well beaten
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon double acting baking
powder
Va cup shortening.
Milk to make batter rather
thick
Va teaspoon salt
Combine and bake waffles
Here's a fancy waffle:

2 eggs beaten until bubbly
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon melted butter
4 teaspoons double acting
baking powder
2 cups milk

Mix together until like crumbs.
If desires, 2 tablespoons shredded
almonds may be added.
CORN-MEAL GRIDDLECAKES
cup corn meal
cup wheat flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
1 to iy cups milk
Sift dry ingredients, add milk
mixed with melted shortening.
Mix thoroughly and bake on hot.

brown.
