liveries of all grains made new
seasonal highs, and corn and oats
soared to record levels once again,
in another day of heavy dealings
today on the board of trade. Soy
beans spurted for limit advances.
News from Washington and Eu
rope, emphasizing Europe's need
for financial aid and American
plans to provide it, served as the
major buying, prop. Grain deal
ers pointed out that financial aid
meant dollar credits with which
to purchase American foodstuffs.
Trading was extremely active
and may have exceeded that of
yesterday, when a wheat turnover
of 34.918,000 bushels was the larg
est since 1941. Volume figures are
not available until the following
day.
While best prices were not
maintained, wheat closed 3-9Va
higher, September S.2.78y-$2.7S,
corn was Vs-5 higher, September
$2.6I'i-2.60i. and oats were
U-2S higher, September $1,-21-1
