Garden Rites
Are Today
Before a garden archway at
the home of her parents, Miss
Irene de Vries, daughter of Mr.
nd Mrs. William deVries, will
become the bride of Raymond
Kenneth lilley, ion of Mrs. Ray
Bell of McClellandtown, Pa., at
tour o'clock ceremonies today. The
bride's two brothers, the Rev.
Roland F. deVries of Redwood
'City. Calif, and the Rev. Maurice
L. deVries of Oroville, Calif., witl
perform the doublerins; ceremony.
Mrs. Raymond Andrews will
sin and Mrs. Adam Herscb-will
play.
" In turquoise taffeta, Miss Helen
Christiansen of Seattle will be the
honor maid. She will carry a
Cirland of asters and wear
floral headdress. Miss Bette Ann
Wright will be bridesmaids in
pink taffeta gowns and will carry
gerlands of asters.
The bride has chosen white
satin for her wedding gown, fash
ioned with fitted bodice edged
with pearl beading, and a short
train. Her veil is fingertip length,
and falls from a coronet of seed
pearls. The bridal boquet is
of rubrum lillies. centered with
a white orchid.
Flower girl is Ruth deVries, who
will wear a yellow dotted-swiss.
Two small ring-b earers are
Lawrence deVries, the bride's
nephew and Roland Boyce of
Portland. Forming the white
ribboned aisle and carrying colon
ial nosegays of garden flowers
will be the Misses Beverly Cour
ier, Emma ' Lou Sappingfield,
Elmetta Hansen, Willetta Hersch,
Elsie deVries, Betty Jean Harbor,
Guinevere Phillips and Marine
Hansen. They will also assist at
the reception.
Mrs. deVries. the bride's mother,
will wear a gown of dark blue
crepe with a corsage of gar
denia. Following the wedding a recep
tion will be held in the garden.
Assisting will be Mesdames J.
J. Foster, O. D. Brunkow, of
Manzanita, Harold deVries, Ar
thur deVries, Rudolph deVrfes,
Ronald deVries, Maurice deVries
and Miss Wilma deVries.
The bride will wear a gabardine
costume suit of green with brown
accessories for her wedding trip.
A white orchid will be pinned to
her shoulder. After motoring to
British Columbia for a week the
couple will make their home in
Seattle. Miss deVries graduated
from Seattle Pacific college in
June, and will teach in Seattle
this fall while Mr. Lilley com
pletes his senior year at the col
lege. Miss Gibson
Now a Bride
Before the fireplace, banked
with woodwardia fern and laven
der and white gladioluses, Mis
Janet Gibson became the bride of
Herbert Hunt Saturday morning
at 10 o'clock nuptials performed
in her parents' South High street
home by the Rev. Charles Dur
den. She is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Floyd Gibson and her
husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Hunt. Miss Lois Giliingi
played the wedding music.
On her wedding day. Miss Gib
son wore a beige suit fashioned
with long fitted jacket, with cocoa
brown accessories and a hat with
cocoa brown feathers and ribbon.
She wore a lavender Catalaya
orchid corsage.
Attendant of the bride was Miss
Shirley Kenagy who wore a brown
shepherd check suit with brown
accessories and a corage of lav
ender orchids. Best man for his
brother wai Frank Hunt.
For lier daughter's nuptials
Mis. Gibson chose a gown of qaua
crepe and wore a corsage of or
chids. The groom's mother wore
a black gown with an identical
corsage.
Assisting at the reception im
mediately after the wedding were
Mrs. W. C. DePew. pouring, Mrs.
Elmer C'urrie, cutting the bride's
cake, and the Misses Joyce Reeves
and Mary Lou McKay, serving.
Mrs. Frank Hunt greeted guests
at the door and Miss Joan
Schwabbauer passed the guest
book.
The couple will be at home in
Salem following a week's automo
bile trip.
