ceremony read August 7 at the
Calvary Baptist church. The Rev.
Charles Durdeen officiated.
The bride wore a white gown
tnade with satin bodice and a
fckirt of fine .marquisette over
Mtin. There was a sweetheart
net-kline and a fingertip length
veil which was held by a head
drew of net Her colonial bouquet
vi centered with an orchid.
Mrs. Marion Wilson, the bride's
ftUter, attended her. wearing blue
organza and carrying a bouquet
of mixed flowers. Bridesmaids,
Mrs. Maxi-ie Melton and Alice
Rimsdrn wore orchid, and
Eleanor Wilson and Marilyn Wil
son wore yellow.' Best man was
L. J. Melsha, the bride's brother-in-law,
and ushers were Donald
Hall and Jack Hard wick of Jeff
erson. Mis Willetta Hirsch and
Louise McDaniel lighted the tap
ers Mrs. Melsh.. sister f the bride
sang before the ceremony.
Mrs. Hall was gowned in a
flowered black dress and Mrs.
Brickeen in blue.both wore pink
t ronebud.
A reception was held at the
Mekha home following the- cere
mony. Aasisting the mothers in
serving were Miss Evelyn Hirsch,
Miss Alice Hirsch and Mrs. Adam
Hirsch.
Fire years aid Wednesday was
Calliejean Lightner, who cele
brated her birthday with a party
at the Broadway street home of
Iter parents, Mr. and Mrs. AI
Lightner. She and her friends,
Dolores Peterson and Kathleen
Wriaon mnd Calliejean's amall
brother, Allen, spent the after
noon in .games, and later birthday
cake and ice cream were served.

Knuths they spent the weekend
at the coast, and will visit at
Eugene before returning home.
Telling romantic news this
week is Miss Hazle Short who
is announcing her engagement to
Alvin Mazac. She is the daugh
ter of Mrs. Peart Short and he is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J.
Mazac, all of West Salem.
Both attended Salem schools
and he served three, years in the
navy. No wedding date has been
set by the couple.
A members meeting sf the
League of Women Voters will be
held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the
home of Mrs. Melvin C. Cleve

peared in graduate voice recital
at University of Southern Cali

Included in her recital were the
works of Handel, Mozart, Schu

Miss Sparks reports that a num

Oak Knoll golf trophy in Wednes
day play at the golf course was
Mrs. Earl Fulgham with a low
net of 78. Fiit runner up was
Mrs. Tom King with an 84 net

play, with fifteen women playing
the winners of the longest drive
from the first tee was Mrs. Earl
Fulgham in class A, Mrs. Jack
