kitchen wind owi. These tips for canning
with little to-do are for the busy home
maker with much to do.
...SAVE TIME: MAKE CHILI
SAUCE AND TOMATO JUICE AT.
THE SAME TIME. Wash and quar
ter about 10 pounds -tomatoes. Simmer
until soft, about 30 minutst, with
chopped celery, onion, green pepper,
carrots and whole spices. (Tie spices
loosely in cheesecloth be, easy to re
move.) Drain off juice snd 11 hot jars.
Process in boiling water bath SS min
utes. Put tomatoes, celery, onion, green
pepper snd carrots through colander or
food mill; adT vinegar. Cook until pulp
is thick enough to round up on spoon.
Fill hot jars; process in boiling water
bath 1 hour.
,:.KEEP CRYSTALS OUT OF
GRAPE JELLY. Prepare juice and let
stand overnight in refrigerator. Crys
tals form and settle to the bottom. Dip
off juice, proceed with jelly making.
