Operator Dies
Charles F. Pierce, 37, operator
of Colonial house on the Pacific
highway south of Salem, died Fri
day evening In Klamath Falls,
following an illness of two
months. He had suffered concus
sion in a fall.
Funeral services are to be at
10 a. m. Tuesday in the Catholic
church at Bend.
Survivors are the widow, Stella
Pierce: two sons, Richard and
Robert, all of Salem; mother, Mrs
A. R. Cothrell of Bend.

Not many years ago it was a short distance from one boundary to
the tther of Salem, but today the Cherry City stretches into the farm
Lands north, south and east. New residential districts now being built
beyond the city limits -already have petitioned for annexation, indicat
ing that a trip "across town" will really be a long one in the near
future. '
The old North River road,
among other sections, is rapidly
becoming another community of
homes -as thickly settled as Fair
mount Hill. Most of the credit
for the -sprouting of new homes
along North River road can be
given F. I. Brassier end his Man
brin Gardens project. There, 75
neat, cheerful homes will be com
pleted this winter. Already SO of
the houses have been completed
and 25 occupied,
