Sway Market
NEW YORK. June lo-;Pr-The
stock market held its equilibrium
today despite a diet of unfavor-l
able news topped by the presi- j
dent's veto of the tax reduction
bill.
Except for a few wide mover,
price change generally were
limited to fractions.
The presidential tax action was
in line with Wall street's expec
tation. When the list proved re
sistant to celling pressure follow
ing the veto, commission houses
reported, short -covering pur
chase produced a selective up
turn that failed to carry through,
many gains being reduced at the
clo.-e. Earlier the maritime tie-up
and other labor and foreign situa
tion had placed a drag on enthu
sism.
The Associatted Press 60-stock
composite iinished ahead .1 or a
point on the day at 63.4. Of 965
Lsues registering, there were 361
advances and 369 declined. Trans
actions totaling 990,000 shares
compared with 960.000 last Friday.
Feed Grains
Show Losses
CHICAGO. June 16-(7P)-Feed
grains dropped sharply on the
Board of Trade today in response
to clear weather and rising tem
peratures in the midwest. Wheat
continued its downward trend,
although losses were not as large
as in corn and oats.
Final prices were above the
day's lows as a rally developed
toward the sessions finish. Wheat
ended unchanged to 2 cents
lower, July $2.094-2.10, corn
was 3V4-4i lower, July $1.85-
1.851, and oats were 3V4-334
lower. July 89 Is -Vs.
Hedging pressure again was
apparent in wheat and some sell
ing developed on the possibility
of a shipping tie-up. It was feared
this might curtail the export pro
gram.
