ML Ansel Marguerite Gilles
of ML Angel has signed contract
to teach girls physical education
in Hillsboro next year. During the
summer she will assist in a recrea
tional program for children, 6 to
15, at Hillsboro. After August 15
she will spend two weeks at her
home here before returning to
Hillsboro to teach.

left Monday by train for SL Paul,
Winn, for a week s vacation. She
will attend the Catholic Press
convention in SL PauL

Henrick of Portland visited Mr.

Saturday and Sunday. Franks and

the army May 18 and will be dis
charged at Fort Lewis June 3.

community-school picnic will be

During the forenoon there will be
a school- program and William
Dettwyler, the only eighth grade
graduate, will receive his certifi
cate. Picnic dinner will be served
at noon. Alice Jenson, president
of the club, and her sister, Mrs.
Martha Isaacson, who is the
Brush Creek teacher, are direct
ing plans for the day. Mrs.
Isaccson plans to return here to
teach next year and will attend
summer school.

ciation will. hold its anual busi
ness meeting Friday at the ceme
tery building. Charles Heinz is

tary for 24 years. Memorial serv
ices will be held Sunday at 11 a.
m. with the Silverton Veterans of
Foreign Wars and its auxiliary in
charge. From here the veterans
will go to Scotts Mills for Me
morial services at the Odd Fel
lows cemetery in the afternoon.
Falls City Mr. and Mrs. Eldon
Shepard, Norman Davis and Mil
dred Wray spent the weekend in
eastern Oregon on a fishing trip.
Silverton Carl Hande, Jr., who
underwent a major operation at
Emmanuel hospital last week, is
convalescing and will be able to
return home the last of the week.
He is general manager of the
Valley Farmers Co-op at Silver-
ton.
