Eastward Bound . . .
Travelers have chosen the spring months for trips east and fouih.
Miss Elizabeth Lord is leaving by plane Thursday for a six weeks
trip east to Philadelphia, Washington. D. C. Baltimore and New York.
She is primarily going east to visit Mr. and Mrs. Melvtn Lord in Pottr
tojvn, Pennsylvania. In New York Miss Lord will be the guest of an old
friend and former Oregonian, Mrs. Florence Hockenberry of Bronxvlilr,
who has often visited here at the Lord home. Miss Lord and Mis Edith
Sc'c-yvet are spending this weekend at their summer place at Seal
Rocks. -
Four Salem matrons, Mrs. Frank G. Myers. Mrs. Carl Webb, Mrs,
Tom Galloway and Mrs. U. Scott Page are entraining on the Empire
Builder May 28 for a month's trip east. Their itinerary includes Chicago,
a boat trip on Lake Erie, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, New York City. Phila
delphia and Washington, D. C. En route home they will stop in Hutchin
son, Kansas, where Mrs.', Galloway will visit her brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Chamberlain. From there they will go south to
Lot Angeles and then home, .

Present memberships may be renewed until 5:30 o'clock Thursday, May 15
after which time vacancies will be filled by new subscribers. - Membership is lim- ,
ited by the seating rapacity of the Salem high schcol auditorium, Salem's largest
available place for concerts.
To Wed in South Today , . .
Miss Marjorie Irma Well? .who formerly lived in Salem, and Neil P. Witting,
jr., son of Mr. and Mr?. Neil P. Witting of Salem, wilj exchange marriage vows
this afternoon at the Arlington Methodist church in Arlington, Calif, at 3:30
o'clock. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wells of Arlington.
The Rev. Richard K. Reigart will officiate and the bride's sister, Mrs. George'
Fitzgerald, will be the organist Mrs; Richard. Bridenstine will be the solotsU .
Mr. Wells wiU give bis daughter in marriage and for her wedding will wear
her mother's brid?l gown cf ivory satin, fashioned with a chiffon yoke adorned
with wide lace and seed pearls. Her fingertip length veil is held in place with
tiara trimmed in orange blossoms. She will carry a bouquet of gardenias cen
tered with an orchid. - 1 4 i
Miss Nancy Witting, sister of the groom, will be the bride's only attendant. She
will wear a powder blue chiflon gown and carry a bouquet of delphinium and
pink and white sweetpeas. She will have a coronet of the same flowers in
her hair.
John W. Wells, brother of the bride, will be best man and ushers will be F.
Norman Smith, Merle Harbach and Harrie Sneliing.
Fcr her daughters nuptials Mrs. Wells will wesr a psstel blue print gown
with black accessories and orchid corsage. Mrs.; Witting will attend her son's
marriage in a yellow print dress with black accessories and orchid corsage.
The wedding reception will be held at the home cf the bride's parents. Th
ccuple will go to Laguna Beach, on their honeymcon and for gcing away the bride j
has chosen an aqua silk print with brown trim and brown and whit accessories. .
Her three-quarter length top coat is of honey maple to which will be pinnei an ;

Keys, daughter of Mr. s(hd Mrs. James E. Keys, and Robert L. Clark, son
cf Mr. and Mrs. Percy L. Clark. The rites Svill be. performed at 8 o'clock
at the Englewood United Brethren church with the Rev. J. M. Goodheart
officiating. Mrs. Grover Ferguson will sing and Mrs. W. H. East play.
Mr. Keys will give his daughter in marriage. Her sister. Miss Jahala
Keys, will bejhejnaid of honor. Miss June Bradbury will be the brides
maid and Donald Clark will be his brother's best man. A wedding recep
tion will follow at the church. ,

Miss Ann Schroeder and William H. Wilson, jr. will be married on
May 17 at the First Nazarene church at 8 o'clock. The bride-elect is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Schroeder and her fiance is the son of
W. H. Wilson of Corvallis. Lighting the tapers will be Mrs. David Pfau
and Miss Es telle Schroeder.
Mrs. Robert Rempel will be her sister's matron of honor and brides
maids will be Miss Ruby and Miss Opal Friesen. Mr. Schroeder will give
his "daughter in marriage. Kenneth Wilson will be best man and ushers
will be Robert Vincent and Rodney Smith. The reception will be held at

Surprise Housewarming -
Mr. and -Mrs., Roy Mink were honored at a surprise housewarming party Saturday night
at their new home in the Keizer district when a group of friends entertained. A late supper
was served and a gift was presented.

The' guest speaker will be Dr. Paul C. Packer of Eugene, new chancellor of the Oregon
