The social agenda is filled with
many informal events including
luncheons, dinners and at homes.
Rep. and Mrs. Paul Hendricks
were hosts for an informal at
home Wednesday night at their
Fairmount Hill residence. A few
legislators and their wives were
bidden to call between 5:30 -and
7:30 o'clock.
Invitations were in the mail this
week to an open house for which
Mr. and Mrs. George Schwarz will
be hosts Sunday afternoon at their
North Capitol street borne in com
pliment to a group of legislators
and their wives who are here
during the session and Salem
friends. Calling hours are from 5
to 8 o'clock.
Mrs. Howard Pickett will pre
side at a 1 o'clock luncheon and
afternoon of bridge this afternoon
at her Center street home for
twelve friends. A special guest
will be Mrs. Burt Snyder of
Lake view, who is here with Rep.
Snyder during the session.
Mrs. Charles B. Pomeroy will
entertain informally at dinner
Saturday night at her North Capi
tol street home in compliment to
her husband on his birthday.
Covers will be placed for twelve
guests and cards will be in play
following the dinner hour.
Council Hears Bennett
The Salem Council of Women's
organizations, meeting at the
chamber of commerce on Thurs
day afternoon, heard SupL Frank
Bennett talk about the night class
es being held at the schools. He
listed the various phases of the
program, telling about the change
in attitude among students and
discussing accredited classes. Mrs.
W. J'. Beard, vice president pre
sided at the business session.
Salem chapter Order f the
Eastern Star will hold a special
meeting at 7 and the regular meet
ing at 8 in Masonic temple Sat
urday night. There will be initi
ation at both meetings.
