Senator Hotel
To Tod Marion
The Hotel Senator ws well on
the way toward displacing the
77-year-old Marion as Salem's
lareest hostelry today.
W. W. Chadwick. heading the
Chadwick hotel system, said
Wednesday the top floor of the
$100,000 addition to the Senator
would be completed In time to
provide eight more rooms for
legislators at the January ses
sion, and that the other two
floors now under construction
would add 16 more rooms shortly
thereafter.
The addition will bring the to
tal rooms to 138, compared to
125 for the Marion.
Another $100,000 improvement
to the Senator, opened first in
1928. is contemplated within the
next two years, Chadwick said,
including a garage on the first
floor, a dining room on the sec
ond, and another 40 rooms above.
The addition would utilize the
space occupied currently on the
ground floor by the Greyhound
bus lines. The bus firm has been
granted a year's extension on its
lease, which was to have expired
next April 30, to give tme for
building a new Greyhound termi
nal at Church street.

"Administration of the inheri

knowledge of laws and practices
of other states and the United
States, as well as Oregon, and
calls for highly trained person

Scott said the staff members of
the present department are well
known to attorneys and trust of

"Some of these employes could
not accompany the transfer,'
Scott said, "and the state would
lose the benefit of their long ex

for my term will expire in two
years under the constitution."
