emerge from the minus column.
The direction was cloudy from
the start with the ticker tape fre
quently halting. Support for the
metals appeared in the final hour
but without much expansion of
activity this group failed to fol
low through and finished well un
der the best. Advances of frac
tions to a point or so predomi
nated at the close. Transfers
dwindled to 830,000 shares, the
smallest for a full session since
Aug. 26.
The Associated Press 60-stock
composite was up .3 of a point at
63.2 first upturn since last Tues
day.

of 5 cents a bukhel in wheat fu
tures paced a sharp upturn In all
grains today. The advance wiped
out the loss sustained Saturday,
although final quotations were
still well under those of a week
ago.
Prospects of an early decontrol
of flour and trade reports that the
commodity credit corporation had
re-entered the cash wheat mar
kets were the factors in the back
of the bread cereal upturn. Corn
was strong on a moderate advance
in hog quotations.
The January wheat futures
went bark above $2.00, closing at
$2.01'

higher, January $1.394-T, and
oats were up 2,i-3,, November
