day for her home at Port Jeffer

extended visit In the capital at
the Slewert home and with Mr.

this week announced her engage

Sophomore at Willamette uni
versity, Miss Moling Is a music
major, studying voice. Both she
and Mr. DeLapp are graduates of
Kalcm school and he I at present
enlisted In the US. Coast Guard.
No wedding plans have been

Formal pledging ceremonies of
new fraternity and sorority
pledges on the Willamette univer
sity campus have been completed
by th four sororities and three
fraternities.
All four sororities, Alpha Chi
Omega, Delta Gamma, Chi Omega
and II Beta Phi. held their pledge
ceremonies Monday night at their
regular house meeting. PI Beta
fhl women held their traditional
"Cttokte Shine" afler house meet
ing to celebrate the occasion.

Mr. and Mr. Floyd W. Shepard
are leaving on the streamliner
today for Chicago and St. Paul,
Minn, on a comtined business and
pleasure trip.
In Chicago the Shepards will be
registered at the Edgewater Beach
hotel -and in St Paul they will
visit with his brother and sister-in-law,
the George Shepards. Mr.
Shepard hag served as city engin
eer at St. Paul for 33 year. The
travelers will return to Salem by
plane on 'October 27.

chocolates to her socotity sisters.
Mis Newman is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. C lister New
man of Salem and her fiance is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. ti.
Wells of Independence. The wed
ding date has not been set.
The biide-lo-be Is a graduate
of Salem schools and a Junior at
Oregon SISte college. Mr. Well
also attended Oregon State college
and served two years overseas
with the 41st divhion for five
years.
