Miss Harriet Davids are visiting from California
at the C. A. Jiatcliff home this weekend. Miss Sil
verthorn Is librarian at the Stanislaus county li
brary, and Miss Davids at Kings county library.
The Ratcliffs were dinner hosts on Saturday
night for their guests. Covers were laid for Mrs.
Minerva Stephens, Miss Eleanor Stephens, Miss
Loretta Fisher. Mrs. William McReynolds. Miss
Silverthorn, Miss Davids find Mr. and Mrs. Hat
cliff. 9
Lunch at Bench
Mrs. Ralph Gordon will entertain a Rroup "f
friends Thursday at her summer home at Road's
End. A luncheon will be served and bridge will
be in play in the afternoon.
Covers will be placed for Mis. Harold Shogren.

chael. They are quests at the home -of Mrs. Kennedy's
rorerit.. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Doeqes. The Kennedys have
leen livinq in Washinqton, D. C, and qie enroute lo San
ta Barbara, where he will be an instructor at Santa Bar
Lara college. (Kennell Ellis).
Miss Jory Tells
Miss Evelyn Jory, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold B.
Jory is this weekend announcing plans 'for her wedding to
Mr. Roger Clawson on Saturday, August 24. The groom
elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Clawson of Bur
lirigame, Calif.
The wedding will be solemnized by the Rev. John L.
Knight at 8:30 o'clock at the First Congregational church.
Mrs. Howard Nicholson of Everett, -Washington will be
her sister's matron of honor and Mrs. C. W. Higgins, jr.,
of San Mateo, sister of the groom will be bridesmaid.
Attending the groom will be Dean Lucas of Millbrae,
Calif., and C. W. Higgins jr. of San Mateo.
Mr. and Mrs. Clawson and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Higgins
jr will arrive on Friday to attend the wedding.
Mrs. William F. Devin of Seattle, aunt of the bride
will arrive on Monday for the wedding.; Also coming Mon
day will be the groom and Dean Lucas from California.
Other out-of-town guesu are expected later in the week.

At Quiet Ceremony . . .

Swift Saturday morning in St. Paul's Episco
pal church chapel. Miss Barbara Porter be
came the bride of John R. McCullough.
The bride's suit was of pearl gray gabar
dine and her hat of the same material, w.i'
lipped with ostrich feathers. She earned
a prayer book marked with orchids.
Mrs. W. Reginald Walker attended the
bride in a black gabardine suit and a blue
plumed hat of black. She carried baby
roses, bouvardia and forget-me-nots. Har
vey Quistad was best man.
The couple has flown to San Francisco
on the honeymiKin and will live in Salem
upon their return. A member of Pi Beta Phi,
she attended Oregon State college. Mr. Mc
Cullough, who served in the navy, was a
Sigma Nu at University of Oregon nd
graduated in law from Willamette.
