More than three-fourths of the
required precinct commit teemen
and committeewomen for Marion
county will be chosen by write
in at the November election or
by appointment later, according
lo a county clerk's office report
Thursday.
Although Marion county's 89
precincts require 3WJ democratic
nd republican committee mem-
bers, thia week's filing deadline
saw only 93 men and women on
record as candidates for commit
tee posts. Left without candidates
are 100 re""' '..-an posts end 1R6
democrat posts. '

man and one woman member
from each precinct for iU county
central committee. Of 81 repub
licans who filed, 54 are men and
27 women, and of 12 democrats
eight are men and four women,
the clerk's office reported.
In 1915, the Life-Saving service
was combined with the, Revenue
Marine service to form what is
now the UH. Coast Guard.
Trailways Ask
Court Support
County court support of West
Coaat Trailways efforts to gain
permission from the public utili
ties commission to do a general
traffic business in Oregon was
urged Thursday by W. C. Simp
son, Trailways traffic manager.
Only interstate, passengers may
now be carried by the company.
Simpson said that his firm
planned to schedule all additional
trips that the traffic will bear
and hes terminal facilities pre
pared for intra-state business.

Veteran' CotiiiI Booth
I'laiuieil for Fair Week
It was announced Thursday that
the state department of veterans
affairs would maintain a booth at
the state fair devoted to veterans'
counsel. The booth, which will be
open all fair week In the agri
cultural building, will be conduct
ed by trained counselors. A large
amount of explanatory literature
on veterans problems will be- distributed.
In 1918, Coast Guard! aviation
was authorized by Congress.
