caused a reversal In price trends
in the grain pits today after both
corn and oats had displayed
htrenjfth in the early trading.
Prices of the yellow grain ad

time, January getting above its
former 4 OPA ceiling of $1,46,
but fairly large selling orders
were encountered at the peak.
There has been a little more
activity in feed barley futures.
at advancing prices, over the past
few sessions. A small barley crop
is expected this year.

the stock market today extended
its average advance into the sev
enth consecutive session, many
recent leaders acted a bit tired
and were inclined to limp.
Buying again was predicated
partly on another string of pleas
ing dividends, earnings and re
viving hopes for fall and winter
business prospects.
Transfers of 830,000 shares
compared with 1,020,000 Wednes
day. The Associated Press 60-
stock composite was up .4 of a
point at 76.9.
Most rails did fairly welt on
congressional approval of the re
organization bill and expectations
of an additional freight rate buot.
The growing scrap shortage cool
ed .asome of the steels. Several
mining shares were bolstered by
the president's signing of the bill
hoisting silver prices.

E. Gates, who is wanted there
on a charge of obtaining proper
ty by false pretenses and deliv
ered a verbal spanking to mer
chants who are over-anxious to
make sales.
Sherirt C. N. Lilly of Benton
county said Gates Is accused of
pure-having an automobile with a
worthless rherk and is Wanted on
twu other counts by other Oregim
points.
Governor Ford commented: "It
isn't our policy to play wet nurse
to merchants who are so anxious
to make a sale that tliey take
anyone's check and then expect
the state to go to a great deal of
exiense to cortect their mistakes.
