came the bride of Charles Strong,
son of the Rev. and Mrs. C. M.
Strong of Chehalis, Wash., Thurs

gational church.
It was at 8 o'clock that the
groom's father officiated at his
koci's marriage. Reid Shelton sang
"I Love Thee" and "I'll Walk
Beside You." Miss Alice Rose
was the organist. ' Lighting the
tapers were Miss Jean Fries and
Miss Vicky Jones who wore pas
tel summer frocks and wore
wristlets of summer flowers.
Of white marquisette was the
bridal gowri. The full skirt, which
terminated in a train, was de
signed With - insets of scallops
forming a redingote effect. The
fitted bodice was fashioned with
a high rounded neckline and a
scalloped bertha S The sleeve
were long. ll:r fingertip length
tulle veil cicadfd from a Mary
Stuart headdress and she car
ried a .fan shaped lxuquet of
white tuberous begonias. Mr.
Randall gave his daughter in
marriage.

Patterson and Miss Virginia Case,,

scrolling and a flowered hat. Her
flowers were rosebuds. Mrs.
Strong wore a navy blue gown
with white accessories for her
son's marriage. Her corsage was
of roses. v
The newlytveds greeted their
guests at a reception in the fire
place rrxjm immediately after the
service. Mrs. Bess Wolz cut the
bride's cake and Mrs. C S Ron
deau of Corvallis presided at the
punch bowl. Scarlet Skill and
Joyce Randall, sister of the bride,
passed the dream cake Serving

Vicky Jones and Miss Jean Fries.
Mrs. George Hanauka passed
the guest book.
When the couple left on their
wedding trip east the bride don
ned a navy blue faille suit with
white straw hat with navy trim
and white accessories. Pinned to
the shoulder of her suit was a
white orchid. Mr. Strong and his
bride are motoring east to Min
neapolis where they will be at
home at 507 Oak street S E, The
groom is attending the Univer
sity of Minnesota medical school.

spending the week at Neskowm
at the beach home of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas McKay.

A buffet dinner was served on :
the tennis court and later the j
group of approximately 40. in
cluding a group of Portland So
roptimists, were entertained by
girls of the school, toured the
two main buildings and partici
pated in the installation cere
monies at which a Hillcrest stu
dent sang.
Retiring president, Mrs. Wini
fred Pettyjohn, told of the many
pounds of food and clothing So
ropti mists of Salem have shipped
to sister club members in Hol
land and England. She reported
also on the organization's inter
est in the child guidance clinic
for Salem, of, its interest in Hill
crest school, its main project and
of its civic efforts.
Mrs. Marie Ling was installed,
as president at brief installation
ceremonies. Mrs. Ethel Lau and

ami second vice president; Mrs.
