the double ring ceremony. Be

Carolyn Brown, the bride's cou

Tears." Miss Joan Twedt will
play the wedding music
The bride, who will be given
in marriage by her father, has
chosen a smart dove grey gabar
dine taiCeur for her wedding.
She will wear a white sheer
blouse, a white flowered ban
deau and white gloves. Her flow
ers will be white carnations and
bouvardia.
Miss Bonnie Burnet will be
the bride's only attendant. She
will wear a cocoa brown -suit
with dark brown accessories and
brown straw bandeau. Her cor
aage will be of yellow rosebud.

New Auxiliary -To
Be Instituted
The newly organized auxiliary
Meadowlark past. Veterans qf
Foreign Wars, wilt be instituted
and officers will be installed at
ceremonies Monday night in the
VFW hall at North Church and
Hood at 8 o'clock.
Mrs. Vesta Cutler, elected
president last Friday night, an
nounced that Mrs'. Marie Dana,
national historian and depart
ment auxiliary president, of
Portland, will participate in the
ceremonies.
Mrs. Dana will bring a drill
team, color bearers, and musi
cians. Ladies of Salem post 661
auxiliary will serve refresh
ments. Besides Mrs. Cutler, other- of
ficers to be installed are Patri
cia Sager, senior vice-president;
Mrs. Jean Hopkins, junior vice
president; Mrs. Dorothy Chase,
secretary; and Mrs, Irene JCoe
nig, treasurer. :
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Saffron
and son, John, are being wel
comed back to 3alem and they
are now at home in their newly
purchased place on Glen Creek
Drive. Mrs. Saffron and their
son resided in Portland with her
parents while he was in the serv
ice. Mr. and Mrs, Arnold C. Ebert,
jtj, and son, Stephen, of Hepp
ner, villi arrive in Salem today
for a Stay at the home of her

Have Birthday
Diana Pearry, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Knight Pearcy, will
celebrate her fifth birthday on
Monday afternoon when she en
tertains a group of friends at the
Pea rcy home.

Banquet For
Methodist Youth
- A banquet will be given at the
First church for seniors in the
Methodist Youth Fellowship on
Monday night at 6:30 by the
Women's Society of Christian
service. The Rev. Roy A. Fedje
will be the speaker.
Richard Cocking is to be toast
master. Donna Jane Macklin and
Grace wili play a piano solo,
Grace Widdows and Janice Mid
dleton will play piano duets and
Barbara Halversorn will lead the
group in singing. Sally Smith
will give a brief talk on the
Maltese cross, emblem of the
MYF around which the decora
tions will center.
A worship service is planned
for after the banquet, with Sal
ly Smith in charge. Joe Brazie
will play the organ and Janice
Middleton and Lois Ruecker will
sing.
Nile Bridge
Benefit
One of the larger social events
of the week will be the spring
bridge benefit for which mem
bers of the Salem club of Daugh
ters of the Nile will be hostess
es at the Masonic temple Tues
day. Guests are asked to bring table
accessories. Playing will begin
at 2 o'clock. Additional guests
are invited trr call during the tea
hour. Presiding at the tea uris
will be Mrs. Thomas Luke of
Portland, queen of Nydia temple,
and Mrs7. David Wright, a past
queen. A group of Rainbow
Girls wiU serve.

Announced
Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Rickard are
announcing the marriage of their
daughter, Mis Alice Rickard to
Robert Boock, son of Mr. and
Mrs. C. E. Boock.
; The marriage took place on
April 19 in the Jason Lee par
sonage. They will live in Salem.
