Oats Strength
CHICAGO, April 25 -i,T)- Late
strength developed in oats today
following announcement by the
agriculture department that corn
purchased under the . bonus pay
ment plan will either be exported
or supplied to domestic process
ors. May. rye, after fluctuating
widely in a "thin" market, closed
lower.
Grain men said tha agriculture
department's announcement Indi
cated that noije of the corn the
government buys will be used for
feed. Jn such a circumstance, the
already large feeding demand for
oats might be expected to in
crease, they said. The government
hopes, to purchase 50,000,000
bushels of corn.
At the close-wheat, corn and
barley and deferred rye contracts
were unchanged at ceilings. A
little trading developed in July
and December wheat, the first in
some time. OaU were unchanged
to s higher, July 83, and May
rye was l'.-3 cents lower at
$2.61.-2.61.
