March 21. -(Special )-Ramona assembly Order of Rainbow for Girls celebrated its second anniversary at a dinner Wednesday. Guests included 30 girls from Chadwick assembly with Mrs. Wayne Henry, mother sdviscr, and a number of Eastern Star members. Individual cakes bearing can flies, served as place cards. Fllovi ing the dinner, the regular meeting of Ramona assembly was held with Elsie Jackson, worthy advisor, and Mrs. W. P. Scarth, mother advisor, presiding. Henrys Honored Ritualistic honors were accord ed Wayne Henry, member of the grand executive board, Mrs. Henry mother advisor of Chadwick as sembly, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bach man, worthy patron and worthy matron of the Silverton chapter. Degrees were conferred upon Louise Hoblitt, Edna Borland, and Jeanell Gottenberg. Mrs. R. A. Rish presented Mrs. Scarth with a gift from Ramona chapter, Sil verton, in appreciation of the work she had done as mother advisor. In charge of the dinner were Barbara Delaugh, chairman; Pat Heater, Ann Louise" Heater, Col leen Egan, Beverly Zimmerman; flower and decorations, Nancy Ad ams, Dorthea Scarth and Alice Miller. Supervision was under the advisor board consisting of Mrs. Bachman, Mrs. J. Asboe, Mrs. Charles Leonard, Mrs. E. A. Fin lay and Mrs. F. E. Sylvester. Post-Lenten Dance Talked MT. ANGEL, March 21.-(Spec-ial) -The Knights of Columbus Tuesday planned initiation for May 5 and a post-Easter dance and carnival April 23. General chairman for the dance snd caFoival at St. Mary's auditor ium are Louis Schwab and Rich ard Foltz. Others on the commit tee are Andrew Wachter, Andrew Schmidt, S. C. Schmitt and Eldred Berning, dance and entertainment; A. G. Traeger, prizes and awards; and William Beyer, Carl Mucken, Louis Bernt and Arthur Schwab, concession chairmen. ANGEL, March 21 (Spe rial) The ML Angel Red Cross drive which started late is lagging with only $498.45 of its $1475 quota turned in. The only district over the top is MeKee, which col iected $83.00 against a quota of $75.00. ML Angel's quota for last year was $2,240 and $2,825.75 was turned in. Valley Obituaries David Aujrust Keil AURORA, March 21.-(Special) David August Keil, 75, of route 2, Aurora died at the family home, Tuesday morning. He was born November 11, 1870 in the Aurora district where he had lived his entire lifetime. His vife, Frede- ricka, whom he married in 1892, died in 1935. Surviving are a son, William, a daughter, Ethel Knorr, two bro thers, Lewis and Henry Keil and one grandchild, all of Aurora. Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 p. m. at the Miller Funeral home with burial in Au rora cemetery. Aumsville, March 21 (Special) The Aumsville lire department was called to the Shaw parochial school Monday but the fire was under control when it arrived. Aurora The Farmers Union, Arbor Grove local, will hold a pie social at Donald school March 29 at 8 o'clock. Every family is to bring a basket or pie to the month ly meeting, after which the social will be held. A program is plan ned. The public is invited. Silverton Mrs. Frank Porter, lecturer, announced the Silverton grange meeting for tonight with a "pick-up" program at 8 p. m. at Legion hall. Lions Club Plans Return of Oreson Symposium Team SILVERTON, March 21 -(Special)- Community recreation was featured at the discussion meet ing of the Silverton Lions club Wednesday night following the weekly dinner at Toney's. Paul Reiling, Mt. Angel coach, gave the talk of the evening on recreation. William Black pre sided. Announcement was made that the University of Oregon sym posium team will return to Sil verton at the April 10 meeting of the Lions club. Columbia valley authority will be the topic. Cases for need of eye examina tion and care were reported to the club and the sight conserva tion committee was asked to in vestigate and make provisions for the need. Large Group Served At GAA Banquet At Albany High ALBANY, March 21 -(Special) Probably the largest group ever served at a banquet of the girls' athletic association of the Albany high school was that of Tuesday in the USO building. Places were set for 80 members and the wom en teachers. The high school col ors of crimson and gold were used as the color scheme, with flowers and candles furthering the decoration. The program consisted of whistling solos by Barbara Bus sard, violin selections by Myra Fern Walker, and electric vibra phone numbers by Marjori Chris tiansen. Lebanon Boy Hurt When Pick-up Backs LEBANON, March 21-(Special) James Thexton, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thexton was hospitalized Tuesday with possible pelvic in juries after he was struck by the pickup driven by C. A. Parker, manager of the local housing pro ject. The child who was going to ride in the back of the pickup became confused when he jumped out to recover his hat which blew off and got behind the car which was being backed in turning. George L. Taylor LEBANON, March 21-(Special) Funeral services were held Mon day, March 18 in the Howe-Huston funeral chapel for George L. Taylor, 70, who died March 16. Burial was in the Gilliland ceme tary. Taylor, who had "lived in Sweet Home for the past five years and was employed by the Powers-Davis lumber company, came to this vicinity from Powers, where he worked 25 years. He had no known relatives."
