NEW YORK, Dec. 25.AVBlg George Mikan,- of DePaul's un
defeated Demons, has taken up where he left off last year in the
national collegiate individual high scoring basketball race. In the
eight games that the Chicago quintet has won this season Mikan
has poured 187 points through the
net to top all scorers in the coun
try. The tall sharpshooter, who '
tallied 952 points in 24 games a
year ago, .has tossed in 71 field
goats and 45 free throws.
In ' second place, only three
points behind, is Andy Wolfe, of
California, with 114 points on 79
doubleheaders and 28 charity
throws. He has played in five
more games than Mikan, how
ever. ,
Bill Hall, of Marshall college- in
West Virginia, la far behind in
third place at 180, but in turn has
big lead on .Jackie Goldsmith,
of Long Island university, and
Leonard Pjrne, of Idaho, tied for
fourth at 133. .
Ernie Calverley, of Rhode Is
land State, and Bob Kurland, of
tha Oklahoma Aggies, two of the
eight players who scored" more
than 500 points last year, are away
. down the list at 92 and 77 points,
respectively.
Bob Hamilton of Oregon is in
