Lyons Homes
LYONS Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Neal of Bandon were Saturday
night guests at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Otto Weidman. They also
visited the John Neal home and
relatives in Mill City.
Miss Betty Jean Bodeker, cadet
nurse of Portland spent Monday
and Tuesday at the home of her
parents, Mr.- and Mrs. Alex Bode
ker. Miss Lois Douglas of Boise,
Idaho, also a cadet nurse visited
at the Bodeker home Tuesday.
The young ladles returned to Port
land Tuesday.
Paul Smith who has been con
valescing at his home following
a stroke was taken to the Salem
Deaconess hospital Sunday after
noon by ambulance.
Leland Leroy Manning, cox
swain in the navy is spending
a 24-day leave at the home of
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde
Dressier. Manning returned from
Japan aboard the carrier USS
Intrepid, on which he has spent
the past 24 months.-He will re
port to San Pedro, following his
leave.
Edmond Engdahl of Lyons died
Monday at 10:30 at a Salem hos
pital, following a short illness.

Mr. and Mrs. George Huffman
and daughters spent Saturday In
Portland. They were guests at
the home of her sister, Mrs. Ed
Strom.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Decker
and son, Clarence, jr., of Eugene
were weekend guests at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs
George Hubbard and sister and
family, Mr. and Mrs. George Huff
man. Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard left
Sunday for Eugene where they
will go to Oak Ridge to be em
ployed.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hampton re
turned to Lyons Monday from
San Diego. They are guests at
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Bodeker. Hampton Just
received bis discharge from the
navy at San Diego. He plans to
reenter Willamette university.
Clarence Pietroke, a 1-e of the
navy returned to his ship, the
USS Glttium which Is docked in
Portland, after spending a short
leave at the home of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Pietroke.
